Sharing his views in the inaugural address Dr. Batra said, “Today we celebrate the 40 under 40 in the HR space, the jury process was very robust, CEOs and CHROs and leading entrepreneurs are part of the jury. When you see the 40 winners, you will see we have selected the best out of all the jury has selected. I am sure all of you were very good and next year it will be even better. For those who haven’t won this year, I am sure you will win next year. HR being post-pandemic has to look at what I call the 3C economy – collaborative, compassionate and caring, and contactless. We also may have to reinforce organizational value. This is the time to live organizational value and we also have to recognize employee efforts.”
“They need motivation and support, they need a pat on the back more than ever and we have to drive engagement with our colleagues using innovation. Also, it is time to reskill, retool, and add new layers of skills to colleagues. It is time for education in recuperating the workforce. We have to focus a lot on employee wellness including their mental well-being. Employee upskilling, adding new skills as technology as virtual contactless grows will become very important. We need to frame new age policies, some of the policies before Corona were relevant but post-Corona they are not relevant. Work from home has become a new norm”, said he.
He further went on to assert,” I won’t call it to work from home, I will call it Flexi-work as it will become even more important. Most importantly pre Corona we always believed in entrepreneurship and I think we need to create entrepreneurs within an organization. I keep saying this too shall pass.”
My top 5 lockdown lessons have been –
When it rains look for rainbows, when it is dark look for stars and clearly it is time to look at positives even in this environment and I am very sure that all of us have found many positives in this environment. I look forward to having a day of knowledge, of ideas that can be implemented, and more importantly in the evening celebrating our BW People, our HR communities for 40 under 40. The future of work has changed and so has the future of Human Resource Management and for the first time HR drives the conversations and their knowledge.”
