Celebrating its 4th anniversary, BW People has successfully concluded a day-long virtual CEO & CHRO Conclave 2021 in association with Randstad India. Thought leaders, change-makers, and lead CHROs have joined the panel discussion from across the industries. Arup Dutta, Co-Founder, Khadder, and the Founding Trustee of the Ranmir Foundation presented a keynote putting forward deeper insights on mapping a firm digital ground in a new-normal world.
Elucidating on the topic Dutta shares that he read an award-winning book “Contagion by Robin Cook” in his school days and thought that it is not going to happen with us ever. “But now, it has happened to us and taught us many things,” he states.
While discussing the challenges this pandemic has posed on us; on a lighter note he said, “The pandemic has taught us to be negative, negative is the new positive.” Facing the realities he explained that the “Digital world is a new game-changer” as it offers us ample features to go as close as possible to reality. The current situation is an exploration drive that seeks to redefine the experience through digital interventions.
“Virtual reality, unfortunately, is a reality we live with today with the fact that we are handicapped in terms of mobility and the internet has been an enabler throughout,” he claims.
“Traceability is the finest and cutting-edge application of the digital ground that helps us to decipher our decisions,” claims Co-Founder, Khadder. Further explaining the concept and capabilities of digital tools he said that traceability maps the journey of things you use on a day-to-day basis starting from its source to where it belongs.
Discussing the loopholes of a total digitalized world he said that, “Internet Of Things providing us traceability. If we don’t have the security of all the IoT devices and digital mapping then IoT will become the “Internet of Threats.” Implementing these on the practical ground what people expect is "security". Furthermore, he answered, “If you have the convenience and empowerment of digital assistance then you are prepared to give up some amount of your privacy.”
Looking at the unpredictability today, Dutta concludes by stating that, “As far as technology goes, thus far and thus furthers will constantly change.”
