Amazon has cut employees in its communications divisions across the Amazon Studios, Amazon Prime Video, and Amazon Music verticals. According to media reports, the communications sections of Amazon Studios, Prime Video, and Music have lost 5 per cent of their personnel. The layoffs affect fewer than 1 per cent of Amazon's global communications personnel.
However, the corporation stated that the employees will be paid and get benefits for the next 60 days. According to Deadline, they will also be eligible for a severance package, transitional benefits, and job placement assistance.
"We regularly review the structure of our teams and make adjustments based on the needs of the business and, following a recent review, we've made the difficult decision to eliminate a small number of roles on our communications team," Brad Glasser, Amazon spokesperson said in a statement. "We're grateful to these employees for their contributions, and we're focused on supporting them in their next steps."
Following the initial layoffs, which saw the removal of 18,000 positions between November 2022 and January 2023, Amazon has lately taken additional steps to optimise its operations.
