Amid the recent boom in the airline industry, the staff and especially the pilots are in for some happy times. Baked by solid bottom line figures, Akasa Airlines have announced a major hike in salary for its staff and pilots.
"The last year has been a milestone year for all of us at Akasa Air. We have differentiated ourselves in many ways and have emerged as a respected brand in the industry, with a fast growth trajectory. Our steadfast focus on the three pillars of our culture - Employee Centricity, Service Excellence and Cost Leadership, built on a platform of World Class Safety, is garnering trust from our customers and employees alike", said the company in a statement.
Addressing the concerns of employees on the lower-than-expected flying hours and how this impacts a pilot's monthly salary and the duration for which a Training Agreement remains in effect, the airline company has acknowledged that it will take some time to increase its network to a point where all pilots on an average fly 60 hours per month.
However, taking stock of the genuine employee concerns, Akasa has made the following changes in the pay structure effective from July 01, 2023.
1. Base pay will be increased for almost all grades of pilots.
2. Base hours will be reduced from 45 to 40 hours.
3. The minimum flying hours condition shall be removed from all training agreements.
4. Deadhead and Layover allowances have been increased.
5. The criterion for Senior Captain grade has been changed from 1,000hrs on type experience to 4 years as PIC, however, all pilots who have already been designated as Senior Captain will continue to maintain their designation and the pay grade.
The above changes will result in an increase in the monthly salary for all pilot grades at current flying levels and an increase in monthly salary at 60 hours for most of the pilot grades. For example, with the revised scale, Sr. First Officer shall earn:
Position | Flying Hours | Cost (INR) |
---|---|---|
Pilot Grade - 40 hrs | 40 | 3,85,000 |
Pilot Grade - 50 hrs | 50 | 4,30,300 |
Sr. First Officer | 60 | 3,40,000 |
