Air India Employees Ordered To Vacate Govt Flats By July 31

The Delhi High Court recently made it clear that Air India Limited (AIL) employees living in the Air India colony in the capital's Vasant Vihar are no longer entitled to the status of government employees.

As per an order passed by Justice Mini Pushkarna, the said employees occupying the government accomodation no longer have the right to do so after the disinvestment of AIL in January 2022 and are accordingly ordered to vacate the properties by July 31.

However, no penal rent will be deducted from the salaries of the Air India Employees for failing to vacate their accommodations for the period in which they have occupied the same illegally said the court order.

The court noted that during the proceedings several of the occupants have already vacated the premises while some of them have submitted that they would vacate but need more time and prayed for a period till one month of the monetisation of the land. The court said that this cannot be accepted.
