Zoom Video Communications, a software provider, has announced 150 job cutbacks this week following an unexpected increase in revenue during the pandemic. However, the reductions are not company-wide, and Zoom will continue to hire this year in fields such as artificial intelligence, sales, and engineering, according to media reports. The corporation verified that the losses represent less than 2 per cent of its workforce.
Zoom, which experienced tremendous success during the pandemic, has failed to maintain revenue growth. Zoom Video Communications has attempted to expand beyond its video meeting service by providing a suite of corporate apps such as contact centre software and persistent chat, comparable to Salesforce's Slack.
Zoom Phone recently reached seven million paid members. The corporation announced that it would reduce personnel by 15 per cent, bringing its workforce to more than 7,000 from 8,500. Zoom Video Communications, headquartered in California, has not released its total employee count since January 2023.
Zoom laid off over 1,300 employees in February 2023, accounting for roughly 15 per cent of its staff, as the company prepared for the "uncertainty of the global economy," according to CEO Eric Yuan. The cuts in 2023 affect every organisation on Zoom.
