Winning Stroke: Interview With Greg Moran, CEO, and Co-founder Zoomcar

If not in the current profession, you would be?

I have always been passionate about sustainability and shared models for sustainable economic development. If not Zoomcar,  I would likely have been an investor in technology companies within the sustainability domain.

One tune you always hum.

I am in a New York State of Mind by Billy Joel.

One book to read when you want to motivate yourself.

I like to read Shoe Dog, Phil Knight's memoir, it’s about creating Nike, a refreshingly honest reminder of what the path to business success really looks like.

One dialogue of a movie that motivates you or you like the most.

One of my all-time favorite movies is Good Will Hunting, especially the iconic bench scene is highly motivating.

The place you never been to and always want to go.

I have always wanted to go to Egypt.

An animal that signifies you & why?

Cheetah as I'm nimble and quick but I also like to plan in advance.

A Movie Character you most resemble or resonate with.

George Clooney in the movie Up in the Air (Most of my time has been spent traveling on planes, prior to lockdown)

If your life was to be turned into a movie who would you like to play your part?

Bradley Cooper

Luck or Hard Work, what do you think weighs more in defining a successful person?

Hard Work, Ultimately, the outcome must matter the most.  The effort is part of the journey and is always enjoyable, but effort without an outcome is meaningless.

One best decision you ever made.

Moving to India to start Zoomcar, I have always been fascinated with India as a market. As a fast-growing economy, it provides entrepreneurs with amazing opportunities to not only scale up their ventures but also deliver a social impact through unique, and oftentimes tech-enabled, service offerings.

A strategy that you always use to take your decisions in Personal or Professional life.

Think 360 degrees on a problem and always play the devil's advocate role.

Whose advice do you seek when in a dilemma?

Depends if personal or professional.  Former would be my mom and the latter would be our early investors at Zoomcar.

What has been your biggest achievement?

Launching Zoomcar, Over the past seven years, while Zoomcar has continued to rent out cars on an hourly basis, it has also brought in several changes. Today, one can have a car delivered to their location., Zoomcar runs on a different model, and the focus is on customers who want the freedom of having a car any time they require, for a longer duration. The only way we have been able to stay ahead of the curve is by keeping our laser-sharp focus on the vehicle rental space and business. Whether it is cars or two-wheelers, we believe that in personal mobility there is a shift from ownership. That will not move towards the taxi industry but more towards self-drive or rentals.

One thing that you want to change in yourself.

I would love to spend some more time  with family
