Winning Stroke: Interview with Abhishek Sinha, Chief People and Operations Officer, KPIT Technologies Ltd.

If not in the current Profession, you would be?

A Writer – definitely.

One tune you always hum.

“I believe I can fly” by R.Kelly.

One Book to read when you want to motivate yourself.

“The Go-Giver” by Burg & Mann.

One Dialogue of a movie that motivates you or you like the most.

From Hollywood – “I don’t want to survive … I want to live” (12 Years a Slave).

From Bollywood – “Ek baar joh maine commitment kar di … uske baad tho mein khud ki bhi nahi sunta” …. (Wanted).

The Place you have never been to and always want to go to.

New Zealand … fascinated since I saw “Lord of the Rings”.

An animal that signifies you & why.

Horse – They are known for agility and endurance. People who work with me know that I want everything ‘now’. I run half-marathons … which can’t be done without the quality of endurance. Did you know that a horse can sleep anytime and in any position? I am the same. My wife dreads my “sleep-while-driving” mode.

A Movie Character you most resemble or resonate with.

Marvel or DC – DC – more because the villains are ‘cooler’ there … and hence more fun to beat.

Batman or Superman – Batman – human, mortal, cool car, has a real girlfriend … and a sidekick.

Tom or Jerry – Jerry … I would rather be chased.

Chacha Chaudhary or Super Commando Dhruv - Chacha Chaudhary kyunki “Chacha Chaudhary ka dimaag computer say bhi tez chalta hai.”

If your life was to be turned into a movie who would you like to play your part?

Sushant Singh Rajput – if he can play MS Dhoni, I am sure he can play me too!

Luck or Hard Work, what do you think weighs more in defining a successful Person.

Neither. It is the attitude that defines the altitude of a person.

One best decision you have ever made.

Despite having no clue of how to even switch on a computer, I joined the IT Industry in 1993!

A strategy that you always use to take your decisions in Personal or Professional life.

Actually, there is no strategy. It is about having a positive attitude and being passionate about everything you do – in personal or professional life. I have always followed this inspirational quote from Martin Luther King Jr. “If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as a Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, 'Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well’”.

Whose advise you seek when in dilemma?

Always … my wife’s. When wife is the reason for dilemma, my kids'.

What has been your biggest achievement?

Inculcating (vociferous) reading habits in my kids … and completing my first half-marathon 2 years back (I was asthmatic as a child and could hardly run).

One thing that you want to change in yourself.

Ability to keep changing my hairstyle. Maybe keep a Ponytail.

A line said by your closed one that you never forget.

“What’s the worst that can happen?” This is one line that motivates me to try out new things; get out of my comfort zone, and pulls me out of gloom when all’s not well.
