United Parcel Services Is Going To Hire 100,000 For Holidays

On Wednesday United Parcel Services said that they are going ahead to employ 10,000 workers for the holidays to handle the increase in packages during the holidays. A similar increase in packages happened during the holiday season of 2020 and 2021 between the months of October to January. The shopping rate declined a bit due to the advent of Pandemic but still remained high above the pre-pandemic level. 

The company said that the opening will be for full-time and part-time and mostly for drivers, driver helpers, and package handlers. UPS claimed that they really promote seasonal jobs and in recent years 35 percent of these hirings shifted to permanent jobs on package-handling positions. 

In an interview to Associated Press, the President of Human Relation at UPS, Danelle McCusker Rees said that the job competition is getting intense in the market compared to the previous years. Rees is the same employee who was hired as a seasonal worker in the company She said ‘’Also, nearly 80% of seasonal positions do not require an interview, up from 75% a year ago’’

As per the official data the jobless number reached 3.8 percent since February but for a healthy reason as many people went to the job market to find relevant work and the data of government included them as the count of unemployed people. As per the government’s reports of last week Employers added 315,000 jobs in August, about what economists had expected, down from an average 4,87,000 a month over the past year.
