Twitter Threatens To Sue Meta Over Hiring Former Employees To Create Threads

Just a day after Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta released Threads, Twitter has reportedly threatened to sue Meta for hiring employees who were fired last year amid the takeover by Musk.

Zuckerberg is accused of hiring several former employees of Twitter to create a ‘copycat’ platform, Thread. Addressing the situation, a spokesperson of Threads responded by saying that is not even a single employee in the team who is a former Twitter engineer.

Twitter will take immediate steps to enforce intellectual property rights and demands Meta stop using any confidential information or trade secrets of Twitter.

However, denying the allegations, Meta has said that it is confident that the allegations are baseless and are not supported by any solid proof.

The company also clarified that it follows a strict policy against hiring employees who have signed a non-compete agreement with their previous organisation.

If any such violation is supported by evidence, Meta could face a legal suit by Twitter, threatening the reputation of Threads.

Eight months prior to the launch of Meta’s Threads, Musk took over Twitter and let go of almost half of the company’s 7,800 employees at the time.
