TV Rao, Anjali Byce Among Top Felicitated At BW Businessworld HR Excellence Awards 2020

The organisations in the modern-day era have to grapple with environmental pressures, rapid technological changes, and tougher competition, thus generating a need for the human resource function to help navigate through these transitions to increase its real and perceived value. Discerning those evolving trends, ‘BW Businessworld HR Excellence Awards 2020’ in its fifth year, recognised those who had borne the torch of excellence in the HR landscape of India.

Held at Leela Ambience Gurgaon on March 5, 2020, over 26 awardees were felicitated spanning across broad categories such as Execution Excellence Awards, Strategy Awards and People Awards.

Among all awardees, TV Rao, Founding President of the NHRD Network and creator of the popular HR Score Card, was bestowed with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’.  He is known for developing a human resource development audit methodology which was a first of its kind across the world.

Anjali Byce, CHRO, Sterlite Technologies, was the ‘CHRO of the Year’. She was awarded for creating a robust business aligned HR strategy and crafting a structured effective program on productivity improvement.

Shruti Mishra, Lead - People & Organization Partner (Retail), PUMA Sports India, was named ‘Future HR Leader of the Year’.  She got the accolade for showcasing a strategic direction in building an inclusive and diverse workplace, for controlling attrition and for reducing hiring cost.

Subir Verma, Head HR, Tata Power was named ‘People’s Champion of the Year’. Verma implemented a new age innovative and digitised HR strategy, and also enabled a historic first for Tata Power Group by moving unionised staff to a different location.

The jury, which was chaired by Charles Frump, MD, Volvo Car India recognised two leaders in the ‘Woman HR Leader of the Year’. The winner, Aruna Vasudevan, Group Head, Magma Fincorp, won the title for inducing best practices such as open-door policy, on-time delivery of performance appraisals and more, some of which were a first in the history of the company. The runner up in the category, Priyanka Mohanty, Vice President, Global Corporate HR, Startek, was awarded for executing the innovative hexagonal model of diversity and inclusion.

Out of the 180+ nominations received by BW Businessworld, 61 nominees were shortlisted by the BW Editorial Board for the jury to deliberate on. On February 27, 2020, under the guidance of jury chair Charles Frump, MD Volvo Car India, the jurors selected the final winners. The meet comprised eminent members of the industry including AP Parigi, Co-Founder, Radio Mirchi & OOH Media; Harsh Wardhan, CEO, CXOE Partners LLP; Jayaram Easwaran, Author and Management; Prakash Iyer, Author/Speaker/Leadership Coach, Sudhir Mishra, Founder and Managing Partner, Trust Legal and Sunder Hemrajani, Management Consultant & Senior Advisor.
