The Indian state of Telangana has opened a fourth IT facility in a tier-II town as part of efforts to bring IT to smaller towns in the region.
The facility in Mahabubnagar will provide IT jobs employment opportunities for local residents, as well as offer IT services to companies across the state. The move is part of Telangana's larger plan to develop IT infrastructure outside of major cities and promote digitalisation across the region.
The state has also launched an initiative to provide training and skills development to local people to help them take advantage of these new opportunities.
Opening IT facilities in two-tier cities is a shared dream of many Indian states. One often hears about such ambitions in state-held investment summits but very few states are walking the talk and creating the right infrastructure and jobs to some extent,
