Tech Giant Google Planning To Cut Jobs To Accelerate The Company

The Chief Executive Officer of Google, Sundar Pichai has given indication to cut jobs in order to make the company work 20 percent efficiently. In one Code Conference in Los Angeles, Sundar Pichai shared his aspiration regarding the company to accelerate more in the coming days and also talked about the plan in the midst of economic uncertainty on a broader lowdown in ad spending.

India-based CEO feels the company has got a little slower and needs to push to elevate the standard Google has created for every other company around the world. Google CEO in the conference said "We want to make sure as a company, when you have fewer resources than before, you are prioritising all the right things to be working on and your employees are really productive that they can actually have impact on the things they’re working on so that’s what we are spending our time on,"

Following the words ‘There is always a scope of improvement’, Pichai believes the company needs to be more entrepreneurial. He asked the employees to work with “greater urgency, sharper focus, and more hunger than we’ve shown on sunnier days”.

Further he added "Across everything we do, we can be slower to make decisions. You look at it end-to-end and figure out how to make the company 20 per cent more productive,"

The host of the conference, Kara Swisher pointed out a common term associated with Google employees working at the company for a long time called “rest and vest,” which was depicted on the six-season HBO fictional showKara Swisher. Answering Kishwar, Pichai said he never watched the popular show. “Too close to home,” he remarked. “You watch TV to relax.”
