Salesforce Lays Off Hundreds Of Employees As Tech Job Cuts Mount

Software giant SAP is the latest to join the layoff bandwagon as it has confirmed slashing hundreds of jobs.

The company has not confirmed the exact number of people laid off but it is less than a thousand, according to TechCrunch.

Meanwhile, Protocol has reported that Salesforce is looking to cut as many as 2,500 workers in a bid to cut costs amidst severe economic headwinds. But the number could be much lower.

The company has already laid off hundreds of people this week.

News of Salesforce layoffs come even as social media platform Twitter laid off close to 3,700 people last week after business tycoon Elon Musk took over the company in a USD 44 billion acquisition.

Salesforce had over 70,000 people on its workforce earlier this year.

In its statement on the layoffs, Salesforce said, "Our sales performance process drives accountability. Unfortunately, that can lead to some leaving the business, and we support them through their transition."

Earlier on Wednesday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also confirmed that his company would be beginning mass layoff. This would be the very first staff cut of its scale during Meta’s 18-year history. WSJ expects the number to be in thousands.
