Oil & Gas sector has emerged as a key driver of job creation activity in India, highlighting the strong domestic economy driving sectors vis-à-vis sectors based on international market trends. Oil & Gas registered a massive 31% jump in hiring in May 2023 as compared to the same time last year, reveals Naukri.com’s JobSpeak Index, the premier job
index of India.
The impressive growth in job creation in the sector can be attributed to a renewed focus on energy security and refinery expansion. The job roles that saw a significant surge in demand included Production Engineers, Process Engineers, and Quality Auditors.
Among the cities, Hyderabad led the pack with a 36% increase in hiring in the Oil & Gas industry in May 2023 as against the corresponding month last year. This was followed by Chennai with 24 per cent job growth. Bengaluru and Pune stood next with a 19 per cent jump in job offers each. Mumbai and Ahmedabad recorded a growth of 15 per cent and 7 per cent respectively. Delhi NCR, however, saw a 9 per cent decline in hiring. Senior professionals in 13-15 years and 16+ years experience categories witnessed 38 per cent and 27 per cent jump in jobs respectively. Professionals in the 4-7 years and 8-12 years’ experience categories saw 21 per cent growth each.
