Gujarat Tops In Providing 43% Employment To Youth Across India

Once again, Gujarat has topped among all states in India in providing the highest number of jobs through employment exchanges.

According to a recent study by Employment Exchange Statistics 2023, by the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment shows that 43 per cent of the total jobs in the country are provided by employment exchanges.

In the last year’s report, a total of 6.44 lakh youth were employed across the country. Gujarat leads the chart with 2.74 lakh youth employed across the country.

In 2023, Gujarat has again topped the chart in providing jobs to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). Out of the total of 38 thousand SC youth employed in India in 2022, Gujarat employed approximately 22 thousand people accounting for 58 per cent.

The state government of Gujarat has launched a new initiative called ‘Anubandham’ to provide employment opportunities to the youth of the state.

The initiative includes a web portal and mobile app that connect employers with suitable candidates through an online system. The web portal now serves as a bridge between employers and job seekers.

Gujarat has made significant progress in ensuring that women are a significant part of the workforce.

In 2022, Gujarat was home to 37 per cent of the total number of women who were given jobs in India, a total of 45,800 women. This is a testament to the state's commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment.
