Ministry of Finance has announced a Diwali bonus for non-gazetted Central government employees. This non-productivity linked or ad-hoc bonus will be given based on 30 days’ salary. Group C and Group B non-gazetted employees of the Central government who are not covered by any productivity-linked bonus scheme will benefit from this. The government has also declared a grant of Rs. 22,000 crores to support oil companies that have incurred losses because of the LPG prices in the country.
The employees and temporary workers of the Central paramilitary forces will be given the ad-hoc bonus. From June 2020 to June 2022, LPG prices really get surged in the international market, in order to save the consumer from its adverse effect LPG prices in India rose only by 72 per cent, which caused losses to the OMCs.
The Government has also approved a productivity-linked bonus of Rs 1,832 crores for railway employees. The bonus will benefit over 11 lakh railway employees. The bonus will be equivalent to 78 days’ pay and will not exceed Rs 17,951. The one-time grant will help the country’s PSU oil-marketing companies (OMCs) cover their losses to some extent.
