Google, one of the world's largest technology companies, has lately announced substantial layoffs affecting over a thousand employees worldwide. The cutbacks affect a variety of areas, including digital assistant, hardware, engineering, and now Google's ad sales staff. As the corporation seeks to streamline operations and save costs, the ad sales team is undergoing a restructuring that will affect several hundred positions worldwide.
According to a memo sent by Google senior vice president Philipp Schindler, the new round of layoffs focuses mostly on the ad sales teams. According to Google spokesperson Chris Pappas, the firm goes through an annual process to structure the ad sales staff so that it aligns with customer service goals. Unfortunately, this approach has resulted in the elimination of several hundred roles worldwide.
These adjustments will mostly affect the large client sales (LCS) section, which is in charge of ads targeting major corporations. Meanwhile, the Google Customer Solutions (GCS) team, which focuses on smaller businesses, emerges as the new primary ad sales group.
Affected employees will be given the opportunity to apply for available roles within Google.
