Digitisation Will Create Ample High SKilled Employment Opportunities: Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog

The advancement in technology is going to transform the way industries operate, with the digitisation process leading to job losses, but it will also create a pool of highly skilled employment opportunities in the long run, says Amitabh Kant, CEO of Amitabh Kant.

Kant added that manufacturing will become customer-centric and India must embrace technology with all its might as the world gets closer with connectivity. India should not miss out on the industrial revolution 4.0 and focus on manufacturing which can create various new kinds of highly paid and highly skilled jobs.

He also focused on the introduction of a compulsory internship programme to encourage more of practical experience on technology as early as higher secondary level.

Kant asked the industry to implement competitive advantage across their value chains, focus on productivity and fill productivity gaps to compete globally to effectively embrace digitalisation.

He also suggested securing quality, prioritising investments in innovation and R&D along with investing in life-long learning for employees. He urged industry to think big and think global.

Kant said at the CII event yesterday, "There is an urgent need for more industry-academia collaboration and to develop requisite skills in technology. Thinking global will require quality and conformance to global standards which can be achieved through digitalisation.”
