The 105-year-old Indian Bullion And Jewellers Association (IBJA), headquartered in Mumbai's Zaveri Bazaar, has appointed Aksha Kamboj as its first female Vice President.
The gold price declared by IBJA is used by the Ministry of Finance and the Reserve Bank of India for issuing and redeeming Sovereign Gold Bonds and providing loans against gold jewelry by banks and NBFCs. Kamboj, who is the executive chairman of Aspect Global and the owner of the Indian Street Premier League cricket team Tiigers of Kolkata, led her team to win the title in their debut season this March.
IBJA, which has offices in 29 states across India, has been publishing benchmark gold rates twice daily since its establishment in 1919. The organisation is also in the process of setting up its own Domestic Gold Spot exchange in Navi Mumbai.
The governing board of IBJA has been reconstituted for the 2024-29 term, with Prithviraj Kothari of Riddhi Siddhi Bullion serving as the national president.
