Bank Of Baroda Marks Disabilities Day 2024 With ‘BankAbilities’ Celebration

In line with its robust Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) policy, Bank of Baroda empowers its over 2,200 PWD employees with a conducive & supportive workplace

Bank of Baroda (Bank) marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024 with a special event at its Corporate Office titled “BankAbilities – Banking on the Abilities of the Differently Abled”, underscoring the Bank's commitment to recognise diversity, foster inclusion, and celebrate the unique abilities of differently-abled individuals. At the event, Shri Debadatta Chand, Managing Director & CEO of the Bank extended his good wishes and support to the differently abled for achieving their aspirations.

On the occasion, the Bank announced the introduction of complimentary Doorstep Banking Services for all its differently abled customers, both existing and new. These customers can avail one free Doorstep Banking service every month for the next 1 year.

As a part of the celebrations, the Bank honoured Ms. Geeta Chouhan, Captain of India’s Wheelchair Basketball Women’s team and a paraplegic sports personality, for her outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of sports.

With a thrust on diversity and inclusion, Bank of Baroda has put in place various measures to support its differently abled employees such as convenient place of posting, tailored job assignments, conducting training programmes/ online workshops, payment of conveyance allowance, amongst many other measures to promote an equitable and inclusive environment.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Debadatta Chand, Managing Director & CEO, Bank of Baroda said, “The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is not just a celebration - it is a call to action. It reminds us to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create opportunities for everyone to live with dignity and achieve their fullest potential. Bank of Baroda is proud to lead the way in empowering individuals with diverse abilities, ensuring they are valued, respected and supported in all facets of their lives.”

The event also featured inspiring performances by staff members, including a sensitisation skit showcasing the capabilities of PWD employees and the transformative role of assistive technologies in fostering their independence. Following the inauguration of BankAbilities at the Corporate Office, the Bank has planned various initiatives at its Regional and Zonal Offices to raise awareness about the rights of PWDs and promote their inclusion. These efforts focus on celebrating the strengths of PWD employees and ensuring preferential treatment for PWD customers.
