Assam Cabinet Approves 3% DA Hike For State Employees

The increase aligns the state’s DA with that of central government employees, now totaling 53%

The Assam Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has approved a 3 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state employees, effective retroactively from July. The increase aligns the state’s DA with that of central government employees, now totaling 53 per cent. State employees will receive the revised DA starting in December, with the arrears from July distributed in four installments from January to April.

In addition, the Cabinet has lifted a restriction in the Assam Tea Plantation Provident Fund scheme that previously prevented tea garden workers earning over ₹15,000 monthly from accessing provident fund (PF) benefits. Sarma stated that the change ensures rising wages do not exclude workers from PF eligibility.
