1. Prior to the latest announcement he has been handling the position of senior vice president for IBM's cloud and cognitive software. Krishna discovered IBM’s security software business. He looked after some key technical roles in IBM Software and IBM Research. He joined IBM in 1990. 

2. Arvind Krishna have done his under graduation from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

3. He is the co-author of 15 patents, has been the editor of IEEE and ACM journals. He has received some distinguished alumni awards from IITK and the University of Illinois, and has published extensively in technical conferences and journals.

4. Arvind Krishna Joins the league of Indian-Americans top officials after Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, MasterCard CEO Ajay Banga, PepsiCo's former CEO Indra Nooyi and Adobe CEO Shantanu Naraye.

5. He was the general manager of IBM Systems and Technology Group’s development and manufacturing organization. He managed the company’s acquisition of Red Hat and supervised its IBM-Red Hat synergy efforts.
