Amazon India Launches A Dedicated Military Talent Pool Website For Military Veterans

Amazon India is proud to announce the launch of a dedicated Indian Military Talent Pool website. This website is created only for military veterans and transitioning service personnel who would like to explore opportunities with Amazon India. As a member of the military community, either as transitioning military personnel, veteran, reservist, or military spouse, one can have multiple opportunities to innovate and solve real-world, complex technical and business problems as they join Amazon India on this journey.

Amazon India launched its Military Veterans Employment programme in 2019. The programme creates work opportunities for military veterans. Veterans of the armed forces are a priceless asset to any organisation, bringing a wealth of knowledge and a wide range of skills. Amazon India Operations partnered with the office of the Director General of Resettlement (DGR), Indian Naval Placement Agency (INPA), Indian Air Force Placement Agency (IAFPA), and Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) to ensure continued work opportunities for military veterans in the country. At Amazon India, armed with invaluable experience and unique skills, military veterans make up a diverse talent pool that strengthens the company’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Speaking of the launch, Tanuja Abburi, DEI Leader – APAC, Middle East, G&A International Retail, Amazon said, “At Amazon, we believe that Military Veterans bring in a wealth of experience, diverse talents and unique perspectives that helps us grow and deliver results on behalf of our customers. Through this website, veterans can continue to pursue careers in their areas of expertise, competence and explore meaningful career opportunities in a corporate world.  We have hundreds of military veterans working across functions in its operations network in leadership and managerial roles, these include Transportation, Customer Fulfilment, Facilities Management, and Security Operations, among others. We have dedicated resources to support Military Veterans throughout their work journey. The affinity group ‘Warriors@Amazon’ consists of former active military personnel and the Amazon employees who provide members with a professional network, organizes community outreach programs, and assists veterans throughout their transition into civilian life within Amazon. Additionally, our Amazon’s Military Ambassador Program (MAP), focuses on specific development needs of veterans and provides tailored training experiences to support them in their transition.”

Arun Kumar Singh, Director – Operations, Amazon says, “Amazon’s mission is to be the earth’s most customer-centric company, and this mission is central to our work in diversity and inclusion. Military Veterans form a valuable section of diversity, their experience from forces, people management skills, handling ambiguity and never give in attitude are few of many attributes which add value to Amazon being a Day 1 organisation. While serving in the Indian Navy, I have learned to fight new challenges every day and find solutions on foot to serve the nation. At Amazon, we operate in a similar manner, we constantly strive to innovate on behalf of the customers by finding solutions to serve them better.”

Over the years Amazon India has hired military veterans into various roles across its businesses. In line with Amazon’s global vision of hiring 25,000 military veterans by 2025, this is an opportunity for military veterans to transition to corporate life and contribute to Amazon’s customer obsession.  The new website will provide an opportunity for people who are ready to challenge themselves to relentlessly improve the Amazon experience for customers, where each day is different from the next, and their learning never truly ends.
