According to a well-known media, during a mandatory pre-flight alcohol test, a celebrity pilot is known to have failed the test and, hence has been reprimanded with a three-month long suspension.
She was to have operated the scheduled Boeing 787 aircraft from Hyderabad to Delhi. The Air India 544 Delhi to Hyderabad flight, was scheduled for departure from Indira Gandhi International Airport on 6 April.
Since it was the first time ever that she failed to pass the test, the authorities have punished her with a three month suspension only.
As per the regulations set forth by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, if a pilot or cabin crew member fails the breathalyzer test for the first time, their license will be suspended for a period of 3 months. In the event of a second occurrence of intoxication while on duty, the same pilot or cabin crew member's license will face a suspension of 3 years according to the stipulated regulations. Furthermore, if the individual fails the alcohol test for the third time, their license will be permanently revoked as per the rules in place.
