4 Growth Block Strategy To Augment People's Potential

Pandemic and the lock-downs have completely changed the way people use to think about their jobs. Business organisations have to now stand up to the new requirements and change the way they think about their people. The Great Resignation and Employee Moonlighting have proven that, if the employees and their needs are not thought beyond the work environment, the only loss will be of the business organisation.

Organizations have to take a step forward to empower their people to choose what they want to do, how they want to do and when they want to do. Freedom is what people are demanding. Freedom to live their life along with their livelihood, freedom to choose and make decisions, freedom to pursue their dreams. Freedom along with Responsibility has to be cultivated by the organizations in this new order. As an integral part of the performance management system, people should be allowed to choose their work goals and set up their personal priorities.

1st Growth Block -My work

With developing global work patterns, ‘change is the only constant process’ that defines today’s work culture. For young professionals, the flexibility of working hours, work-life balance, the office environment is as vital as an attractive remuneration package and growth prospects. The traditional ‘office working culture’ is increasingly being replaced by remote working and collaborative ventures.

In that scenario utilizing your people’s skills in contribution to the organization as per their best potential, the common practice of annual appraisals needs to be reviewed. In Traditional working culture, it was believed to be a highly effective tool to analyse the capacity and capabilities of the workforce. People were compared against their given KRA’s and peers. However, considering the present conditions, the Talent Analysis Practices also needs to be evolved on the basis of performance. The people need to feel empowered to choose their work, their goals, their KRA’s and necessarily need to be compared against their own goals and objectives.

2nd Growth Block- MY SELF

In order to augment the true potential of the team, the organizations need to focus on empowering them with continuous learning on their professional journey.  People should be encouraged to ‘Focus on SELF & Follow the Life Passions so that they have the feeling of contentment.

Because company culture matters the most today than ever, it is pertinent that business leadership defines the new facets of culture by focusing on the new requirements. Work-life balance is something that has been talked about in the organization since long however, whenever there was a tussle between work and life, work always overpowered the life of an employee. This pandemic has given an opportunity to the employee to focus on self. Organizations now have to build this focus within their PMS and formalize it.

3rd Growth Block-MY FAMILY

People have realised the need of being with the family and their responsibilities towards their family members. This is an important aspect and should be included in the new PMS system. Organizations should not only help their people to identify their responsibilities towards their family but also help them to achieve those goals.

Family-friendly policies help to balance and benefit both work and family life. Time, Finances, and Services, the three types of essential resources needed by parents and caregivers of young children and elderlies, should be taken care of by the organization to remove the growth block of the team and augment their true potential.

4th Growth Block- MY SOCIETY

Giving back to the Society...Do your bit to make World a Better Place

Encourage employee participation in volunteer activities that align with your company’s values and goals. Make giving a core value of your culture. Commit to solving social problems internally and externally. Organizations that find ways to solve these issues internally and externally through systems, practices, and people processes will build strong organizations that not only yield high and authentic participation from their employees but will also be favoured by customers.
