Huntr has s released a comprehensive report on the migration patterns and upskilling initiatives of skilled and unskilled Indian workers in the MENA region, with a particular focus on United Arab Emirates (UAE). The study employed a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive insights into the demand for skilled workforce migrants analysing a sample size 100k blue workers enrolled with Huntr. The demand for skilled blue-collar workers from India has surged by an impressive 25% over the past year alone.
The report highlights the UAE's thriving industries, such as technology, healthcare, construction, manufacturing, and logistics, which have witnessed an unprecedented surge in demand for skilled Indian blue-collar workers. This demand has been driven by the country's ambitious infrastructure projects, rapid urbanization, and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies across various sectors.
Some key findings of the report are:
● Surging demand for skilled labor: The UAE's booming technology, healthcare, construction, manufacturing, and logistics sectors have witnessed a remarkable 20-25% increase in demand for skilled Indian blue-collar workers over the past year.
● Upskilling non-skilled workers: Aimed at meeting evolving market needs, non-skilled workers in the UAE are actively pursuing upskilling opportunities through government initiatives like the National Qualification Authority (NQA), Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs, and the NAFIS program.
● States fueling skilled migration: Indian states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh are emerging as major contributors to the skilled migrant workforce in the UAE.
● Economic impact through remittances: In 2022, remittances from Indian migrant workers in the UAE contributed approximately $100 billion to India's economy, supporting families and driving rural development.
● Knowledge transfer and skill development: Upskilling initiatives empower migrant workers with valuable skills, facilitating knowledge transfer upon their return and contributing to India's economic growth.
● Sustainable workforce development: A diverse and skilled workforce promotes sustainable practices, adheres to environmental and safety standards, and contributes to the UAE's long-term labor market sustainability.
"Beyond the numbers, this trend signifies a mutually beneficial exchange between India and the UAE," said the Samuel Joy, CEO, Huntr.
