Following the termination of merger talks with Sony, Zee Entertainment has embarked on cost-saving initiatives, culminating in the reduction of its tech team at the Bengaluru innovation center by half. The decision, spearheaded by MD & CEO Punit Goenka, aims to streamline resources for sustained growth.
Exact figures regarding the number of employees affected were not disclosed by the company.
Furthermore, Zee Entertainment emphasised its commitment to enhancing content creation, distribution, and monetisation processes through its innovation center.
This development follows Nitin Mittal's resignation as President of Technology and Data at Zee. Amrit Thomas will now oversee data science, Kishore Krishnamurthy will lead engineering, Bhushan Kolleri will manage product, and Vishal Somani will handle enterprise and content technology, according to the company's statement.
