Verily Planning To Slash 15% Of Its Workforce

Google-owned Verily, is all set to slash15% of jobs as it eliminates some programs and streamlines operations.

“We are making changes that refine our strategy, prioritize our product portfolio, and simplify our operating model,” said Stephen Gillett, Verily’s CEO, in the post. “We will advance fewer initiatives with greater resources.”

It is also brought to attention that close to 200 people form Verily's workforce would be rendered jobless.

Further, few of the employees who were leading various ongoing programs, will be reassigned to other teams, while others will be leaving Verily, he said.

This doesn't come as a surprise that verily will also be a part of the bandwagon of gants laying of employees in huge numbers in the name of restructuring or right-sizing their organisations.

Meta Platforms Inc., Twitter Inc., and Amazon.com Inc. have all slashed their ranks, or begun the process of retrenchment.
