Twitter Laid Off 200 Employees On Saturday: Report

Micro-blogging platform Twitter laid off 200 employees on Saturday said people in the know, according to a report by The New York Times.

The company had roughly 2,000 employees on its payroll after laying off 50 per cent of its staff last year after Elon Musk took Twitter private. The latest new of layoffs means that the company has laid off about 10 per cent of its existing workforce.

The latest job cuts have reportedly affected product managers, data scientists and engineers who worked on machine learning and site reliability.

Last year, Elon Musk-led microblogging platform Twitter shut two out of three offices in India and has asked its employees to switch to work-from-home.

Twitter had fired 90 per cent of its Indian staff late last year and closed its offices in New Delhi and Mumbai. The company, although, continues to keep its Bengaluru office operational.

The move to shut offices in India underscores the fact of how hard the social media company is struggling to cut its losses.
