Scaler, an edtech firm, has initiated layoffs as part of its efforts to streamline roles and reduce redundancy within the organisation, reported by Moneycontrol, citing informed sources. The job cuts are expected to affect approximately 150 employees, representing 10 per cent of the total workforce, particularly in the marketing, sales, and other departments.
According to the company, it currently maintains a workforce of approximately 1,500 employees, with 1,000 being full-time staff members. The remaining workforce comprises consultants, contractual employees, and interns.
In 2022, the company had announced a significant expansion in its workforce, witnessing a growth of over 150 percent to reach 2,000 employees, compared to 800 employees previously.
Abhimanyu Saxena, Co-Founder of Scaler and InterviewBit, stated to Moneycontrol, "We have devised a new operational approach to achieve sustainable growth while ensuring the best learning experience and outcomes for our learners - a commitment we have always upheld. As part of this restructuring, we identified certain functions and roles, primarily in marketing and sales, that needed to be restructured."
