Around 3,365 state government employees in Mizoram have employed substitutes to work in their place, with the highest numbers found in the school education, health and family welfare, and power and electricity departments, according to officials.
The Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) government, led by Chief Minister Lalduhoma, has requested these substitutes to report themselves by January after assuming power in December.
Reasons for hiring substitutes range from health and domestic issues to lack of residential quarters and accessibility to remote areas.
Lalduhoma mentioned that the state cabinet will review these cases and make a final decision.
Mizoram has approximately 50,000 state government employees.
