Mark Schneider, the CEO of Nestlé, has stepped down after eight years at the helm of the Swiss food giant. Schneider, who is credited with steering the company towards greater innovation and sustainability, will be succeeded by Laurent Freixe, the current head of Nestlé’s Latin America operations. Freixe, a long-time Nestlé executive who joined the company in 1986, has been praised for his leadership during challenging periods, such as the 2008 financial crisis. He will be nominated for the board of directors at the 2025 annual general meeting.

In a statement, Schneider expressed gratitude for his time leading Nestlé, noting the company's transformation during his tenure. Freixe, recognised for his strategic acumen and deep market understanding, acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed confidence in Nestlé's continued success. Nestlé Chairman Paul Bulcke called Freixe the perfect fit to lead the company into the future, highlighting his extensive experience and consumer insights.
