The Chennai chapter of the women wing of Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), FLO Chennai today announced its partnership with TiE Chennai to foster women entrepreneurship in the city. The association will strengthen FLO Chennai’s ground-breaking initiative #HERidea, which aims to help existing and budding women entrepreneurs turn their business start-up ideas into reality.
As part of this announcement, both the organisations have jointly announced a first-of-its-kind entrepreurship development workshops and a business idea competition program titled #HERidea to encourage women entrepreneurs and students in Chennai. This program will also be supported by prestigious management educational institute in the city - LIBA in Nungambakkam.
#HERidea will host a series of entrepreneurship workshops and events in the partnered institutes to encourage women to participate in the competition with their business idea and recognise best ideas with the support of panel of judges in the final stage. #HERidea, with the support of members and panellists, will also offer advice and support to those who are thinking about starting a business including help to 1. Understand the process of starting a business, 2. Build a comprehensive business plan, 3. Develop a marketing plan, 4. Create financial forecasts 5. Identify sources of finance.
Commenting on the association, Ms. Anupama Shivaraman, Chairperson of FICCI FLO Chennai said: “The core focus of FLO, as a Chamber of Commerce for women, is entrepreneurship and economic empowerment of women. We have launched #HERidea under our SWAYAM initiative to encourage and support women entrepreneurs in Chennai. It is great to be working together with TiE Chennai, to empower the next generation of entrepreneurs. We will be launching a series of workshops and events to empower women to start up or scale up their business ideas and create their own business opportunities.”
