Exl Service, an IT firm headquartered in New York, is undergoing operational reorganisation in response to heightened demand for generative artificial intelligence. As part of this initiative, the company is streamlining its workforce by eliminating 800 positions, which represent less than 2 per cent of its total employee count. Among these, 400 employees will face layoffs, while the remaining 400 will have the opportunity to seek alternative employment within the organisation.
The job reductions will primarily affect entry-level staff engaged in data analytics and digital operations across both the United States and India. With a global workforce of approximately 55,000 individuals, Exl Service is strategically adjusting its staffing to align with evolving market demands.
In conjunction with these changes, Rohit Kapoor, previously serving as EXL's CEO, has been elevated to the position of board chair. Additionally, senior executives Vikas Bhalla and Vivek Jetley are assuming expanded roles focused on integrating data and AI-driven solutions. A company spokesperson indicates that the restructuring initiative involves a thorough review of existing roles and the recruitment of highly skilled professionals proficient in data and AI technologies.
