Dell Lays Off 6,000 Employees To Cut Costs

Dell Technologies announced plans to downsize its workforce as part of a cost-cutting initiative. The company aims to limit external hiring and implement employee reorganisation.

With a current staff count of 1,20,000, down from around 1,26,000 a year ago as of February, Dell seeks to navigate slow demand for personal computers over nearly two years, reflected in an 11 per cent revenue decline in the fourth quarter.

Despite challenges, Dell anticipates managing near-term obstacles and improving demand while addressing cost concerns.

Additionally, changes in commercial relationships with VMware may lead to further reductions in net revenue for other business segments. Last year, Dell proactively reduced its workforce by 6,650 positions in anticipation of economic challenges amid declining PC demand.
