National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has announced the appointment of Vivek Kumar Bajpai as a part-time official director, effective November 28, 2024 (afternoon). His appointment follows the Ministry of Mines’ order issued on the same date. Bajpai has no personal ties with any of NALCO’s directors or key managerial personnel and is not restricted from holding a director's position under any SEBI or regulatory orders.
A distinguished officer from the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) 1999 Batch, Bajpai holds a B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from Gorakhpur University. His professional journey includes significant roles in the Indian Railways, such as Chief Project Manager at COFMOW, where he managed automation, upgradation, and capacity-building turnkey projects across railway units.
In April 2022, Bajpai joined the Ministry of Textiles on deputation as Additional Development Commissioner (Handlooms), overseeing national handloom schemes and cluster-based welfare initiatives for handloom workers. Currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Mines, he manages public sector undertakings under the ministry, international collaborations in minerals and metals, media engagements, and exploration activities under the National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET). His role also involves administering key regulations such as the OAMDR Act.
Additionally, Bajpai serves as a Director on the Board of Hindustan Zinc Limited since July 24, 2024, and as Managing Director of Bharat Gold Mines Limited since September 13, 2024. His extensive experience across diverse sectors is expected to bring valuable insights to NALCO’s operations.
