Nadella’s stern response to Employee criticism over ICE contract

Satya Nadella, Microsoft chief executive, to make it clear about the tech giant's contract with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has shot a memorandum in response to employee criticism that it is limited to administrative functions dissimilar to the White House policy of separating children and families at the US–Mexico border.

Due to the vast response of approximately 100 employees against the authorities about cancelling a $20 million contract, the memo was shot.

Employees wrote a letter stating that any involvement with ICE was too much.

Employees wrote "We are providing the technical undergirding in support of an agency that is actively enforcing this inhumane policy."

Employees also requested that the Company commit to working only with customers who don’t intrude upon human rights law, as well as to submit to a review of all government contracts.

US President Donald Trump has said he would sign an executive order ending family separations at the southern border as he changed his mind considering the policy.

Nadella explains, "I want to be clear: Microsoft is not working with the US government on any projects related to separating children from their families at the border. The Company’s "engagement with any government has been and will be guided by our ethics and principles."

"My story would not have been possible anywhere else," he said. Also, judged the administration's border policy, saying it is "simply cruel and abusive."
