Mitsubishi Electric India has invested over Rs 200 crore in the Talegaon area. It has already hired 100 people, mostly locals, and plans to hire 500 more in the future.
On Friday, the manufacturing plant in Badhalawadi village, a few kilometres from Talegaon, was inaugurated. The total size of the manufacturing facility is 40,000 square metres, with an initial buildup of 15,400 square metres. The plant will begin operations in January 2024.
Speaking to a media house, Tomohiro Yoshida, Director and Factory Automation Division Head, Mitsubishi Electric India, stated that they currently have 100 employees, adding, "We have a few Japanese expats, but the majority of the people are from Pune." We have recently relocated our operations from Bhosari to the new Talegaon manufacturing plant. We intend to expand the range of products manufactured at this facility. We will begin with 100 employees and gradually scale up as we add more products to manufacture. We can expand to 500 people over time as we add more products to this manufacturing facility."
