Invest in people development to create value for employees and your business

Evolving times demand HR leaders and their teams to be constantly working towards introducing new HR practices and revamping old ones, to create a high-performing, collaborative and inclusive work environment. Increased investments in employee training and development, better employee experience to improve brand image, and effective and measureable training programmes are taking the centre stage.

Employee experience: Training and Performance Management

The need for training and development for new and existing employees cannot be stressed enough. A well-aligned and highly engaged workforce results in better performance, honed business skills  and job satisfaction. Strategically designed training programmes help employees identify themselves with the organisation – encouraging them to think independently, helping them realise their leadership potential and providing opportunities to participate in assignments that not only contribute to organisational growth, but also nurture their career paths. The process of training and development must continue throughout employees’ careers. Through continued investments, employees can experience a much higher sense of job enrichment – which can be a key motivating factor.

Special focus must be laid on making employees feel valued, and companies must take the extra step to ensure that their employees remain motivated and engaged. For example, encouraging right behaviours and recognising great work. HR should also emphasise strongly on talent management, as it is no secret that attracting and retaining the right talent is key to business growth –the right employee multiplies efforts, helps create a great workplace, boosts bottom lines and ultimately, the business. Organisational leadership, along with HR, can build their strategies to in still right values and culture. They also need to demonstrate this in their own work and be role-models.

The Smart Cube Offerings

Designing effective training programmes:

At The Smart Cube, our people are our greatest assets, and we demonstrate this, in part, through a philosophy of continuous learning. One of the key features of our employee's journey is the opportunity to acquire new capabilities and knowledge –not only for their professional careers, but also personal lives. We create customised training modules for both existing staff and new hires. The objective of this approach is to equip all our employees with the necessary skills, tools and technologies to succeed in their current and future roles.

At the heart of creating well planned training modules is consideration of the sectors that we operate in and providing new opportunities that enable our workforce to add more value and enjoy rewarding work. Training is not restricted to specific points in employee's career paths (such as reviews or promotions), but is available to meet their evolving needs as they arise; through a mix of classroom, on-the-job and outbound training. Our learning solutions are based on learning needs analysis, which is conducted to understand the development requirements and aspirations of employees at all levels. This exercise enables us to identify programmes that are assessed against the full spectrum of training methodologies, from high-tech to traditional, to determine the most effective solutions. Every financial year, budget is allocated to cover planned training expenditure for the following 12-months.

We truly acknowledge the value of our employees and their contribution to the success of our business and are therefore committed to providing them with a whole host of learning and training opportunities to develop their personal and professional growth prospects and making them ready for existing and future roles.
