With the thoughtful adoption of emerging technologies set to become the defining competitive advantage for companies in the new normal, DBS today announced plans to hire around 150 of India’s brightest technology talent through its popular Hack2Hire programme.
Back after a year-long hiatus due to Covid-19, DBS Hack2Hire will enable candidates to meet like-minded technologists and participate in exciting challenges during a virtual hackathon to assess their technical and problem-solving capabilities. Successful candidates will be invited for a final interview during the same event.
In its fourth edition, DBS Hack2Hire aims to fill positions across 13 developer and engineering roles as the bank scales up its use of artificial intelligence (AI) / machine learning (ML) and blockchain technologies to reshape the future of banking. This will also contribute towards India’s effort to nurture a pipeline of talent in financial technology. Both fresh graduates and experienced professionals are invited to apply. The final selects will be offered a job at DBS Asia Hub 2 (DAH2).
DAH2 in Hyderabad is DBS’ largest tech hub outside its home market of Singapore. DAH2 supports the bank in strengthening its technological capabilities across the region as well as its banking strategy.
Commenting on the event, Alex Yew Meng Woo, Managing Director and CEO of DBS Asia Hub 2, Hyderabad, said, “Hiring top technology talent is the fuel for our ambition of becoming a world class engineering organisation in the next few years. We are confident of giving the right platform and environment for these engineers to thrive and build successful careers with DBS.”
Noting that DBS Hack2Hire presents a unique opportunity for technologists to build a fulfilling engineering career in the World’s Best Bank and World’s Best Digital Bank, Soh Siew Choo, Group Head of Big Data/AI and Consumer Banking Technology at DBS, said, “With Covid-19 greatly accelerating the pace of digital adoption, it is now more important than ever to ensure that our digital offerings continue to stay ahead of our customers’ needs. At DBS, we are deeply absorbed in leveraging emerging technologies such as AI and blockchain to deliver intelligent, intuitive, and invisible banking services. We have made significant strides in the past years, but the journey is only beginning, and we are looking to uncover high quality talent to join us as we shape the digital finance landscape and make banking joyful for our customers.”
DBS has been harnessing the vast potential of AI/ML and blockchain technologies to introduce a series of industry-leading solutions addressing diverse needs ranging from financial planning, wealth management, asset digitalisation, and sustainability. Sahil Gupta, another Engineering Lead at DBS Asia Hub 2, joined through the DBS Hack2Hire conducted in July 2019. Since then, Sahil has been involved in complex projects to enhance DBS’ digital banking capabilities.
Sahil shared, “I was amazed by this unique way of hiring that provides an opportunity to meet other like-minded tech enthusiasts and share their passion for innovation. DBS Hack2Hire puts focus on practical problem solving and collaboration to evaluate candidates rather than asking routine theoretical questions in the interview process. We also got a glimpse of the company culture by interacting with our mentors and judges. It was a fun and eventful weekend that proved to be the turning point of my career.”
To provide applicants with a peek into life at DBS, the bank is organising a virtual Hack2Hire Festival in October. This comprises a series of talks covering topics such as the DBS innovation engine, emerging technologies and the future of work and workspaces
