Cruise, the self-driving car company owned by General Motors is making staff reductions that will impact 24 percent of full-time employees.
In an internal letter written by Mo El Shenawy, President and CTO of Cruise, the employees were informed the employee count in operations and other areas.
These impacts are largely outside of engineering, although some Tech positions are also made redundant with the company parting ways with several SLT members. The decision is led by the intent to slow down commercialization and restructure operations with a focus on delivering improvements to our tech and vehicle performance.
The company has rolled out severance pay and career support services for the departing employees.
