According to a Moneycontrol report, Coinbase has begun a vigorous expansion of its employee base in India, despite ceasing services in the country at the end of October.
The company's emphasis on filling critical product and technology positions is spread across remote work environments as well as the thriving tech hubs of Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
This move is consistent with Coinbase's earlier announcement that it would establish a significant business presence in India by opening a dedicated office. The company is actively seeking skilled candidates who can improve the operations of the US-based cryptocurrency exchange.
The company is actively seeking software engineers, engineering managers specialising in platform payments, data scientists and vendor management analysts, among other positions. Although the exact number of new hires is unknown, Moneycontrol reported that the company has posted approximately 30 open positions on its LinkedIn page in the last three weeks.
During its time in India, Coinbase has faced challenges such as high taxes on cryptocurrency gains and difficulties in enabling UPI-based payments for crypto transactions on its platform.
