Central Statistics Office (CSO) Report: 41 lakh new jobs created in the last eight months

In a report  Central Statistics Office (CSO), Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation has outlined the Employment Outlook of the country from the period of September 2017 to April 2018.

Around 41.26 lakh new jobs were created in the last eight months. With the largest-ever addition of 6.85 lakh in April alone as per the payroll report of Employees’ Provident Fund (EPFO).

During April,  workers aged 18 to 21 had the maximum payroll of 1,87,221 whereas workers aging 22 to 25 years had the maximum payroll of 1,80,892, making it comparatively less than millennials.

In the series of employment statistics, this is the third one. The first release by the ministry was in April, 2018 through the period September 2017 to February, 2018.

 Using the data on the number of subscribers who have opted for the benefits under three main schemes. Which are Employees’ Provident Fund (EPFO), Employees’ State Insurance Scheme (ESIC) and the National Pension Scheme (NPS).


 Another such report was released in May 2018, for September, 2017 to March, 2018.
