Capita, a British outsourcing firm, announced on Tuesday that it plans to cut approximately 900 jobs globally as part of its ongoing cost-cutting initiative, primarily affecting roles related to indirect support functions and overheads.
Capita employs approximately 50,000 people across the UK, Europe, India and South Africa, and potential layoffs represent less than 2 per cent of its workforce.
While the company stated that its performance is in line with expectations, the job cuts are a strategic move to improve cost efficiency and double profit margins in the medium term.
Following a significant cyber incident in March, Capita, a provider of services to both the public and private sectors, faced challenges this year. The London-listed company announced plans to begin employee consultations about the job-cutting programme.
