Secure logistics behemoth, BVC Logistics has rolled out a new policy that allows its teams to work from any location they want, anytime of the day and any day of the week. This policy eliminates the traditional culture of working only from office, during 9-6pm and 6 days a week. The change reinforces BVC’s 60 year-old startup culture while placing heavy emphasis on the wellbeing of its 1500 plus member staff.
The new policy allows BVCites to work from any physical location, from home or over 75 BVC offices in India, at whichever time of the day they’re most productive in (whether midnight onward or 5am onward) and work whichever days of the week they feel they’ll add most value. This new policy focuses on working exclusively for outcomes, not number of hours.
The new attendance policy aims to achieve higher happiness for each BVCite. The team now also has ‘mandatory leaves’ each year to ensure each BVCite’s relationships beyond work become stronger.
This change is the start of a sequence of initiatives, on which Mr. Bhavik Chinai, Group CEO quoted, “We’re proud to change the status quo today. The reason for change was when we asked a question– if we ourselves look for a job today, what would we seek from the enterprise? And with that, we realised the need to transform. We’re proud to have hundreds of BVCites with us for over 5, 10, 15 and 20 years. Some BVCites have worked with us for over 40 years! The new policy reflects our trust in our team through action, not just words and reinforces our 60-year-old-startup culture.”
BVC believes its policies will attract the best minds from across industries to help it achieve its goal of facilitating $100B worth trade annually by 2025. The transformative attendance policy is the start of several initiatives aimed toward employee happiness and an overall cultural transformation of the company.
