It is time we stop putting up with unhappy workplaces in order to become more energetic, productive, motivated, creative and successful. And, the first step is to know what makes me happy at work.

· Happiness is largely a choice – You can choose to be happy at work. Sounds simple? Yes but simplicity is often profoundly difficult to put into action. So, think positive about your work. The key is to organize, de-clutter your workspace and make a to-do- list which helps priorities your work and reduces distractions.

· Snack healthy – Healthy eating for a healthy living. Have more fruits and veggies that can increase your energy and creativity levels

· Take a break - Not too many but at times, this can work wonders and helps you refocus and come back to work with the renewed vigor.

· Do something you love every day – Take time off to map your work with your skills and interest levels. In case there is ample match, your current job would not bore you much.

· Keep your commitments - One of the most serious causes of work stress and unhappiness is failing to keep commitments. Many employees spend more time making excuses for failing consequences of not keeping a commitment than they do performing the tasks promised. Don’t volunteer if you don’t have time.

·Avoid negativity – Choosing to be happy at work means avoiding negative conversation, gossip, and unhappy people as much as possible. No matter how positively you feel, negative people have a profound impact on your psyche. Find coworkers you like and enjoy and spend your time with. Your choices at work largely define your experience.

·Make friends – Liking and enjoying your co-workers are hallmarks of a positive, happy work experience. Take time to get to know them. You might actually like and enjoy them. Your network provides support, resources, sharing and caring.
