33% Educated Youth Unemployed Due To Lack Of Future-Skills: Report

ImaginXP, a higher education company recently concluded research with a focus on deeper insight into India’s skill gap & challenges for working professionals.

The survey for the report was conducted through interactions with over 1100 respondents including 141 corporates. The findings suggest that almost a third of the nation’s (33 per cent) youth currently faces unemployment due to a dearth of future-ready skills.

Today India has a GER of 26.6 per cent which means that 74 per cent of the population within the age group of 18-23 (ideal age for higher education applicants) are currently not within the higher education system due to lack of accessibility or affordability. In addition, India will need 2.7Mn digitally skilled professionals by 2023.

With almost 31 per cent of the survey’s respondents stating that their existent degree has failed in equipping them with future-ready skill sets, the need for an alternative skill-based educational model was imperative. Furthermore, over 53 per cent of the respondents also confessed that they were unable to find the job of their choice while over 60 per cent admitted they were not earning the ideal salary after duly completing their degree. More importantly, almost 75 per cent of the surveyed mass attested to the fact that training in futuristic skills could have assisted them in achieving greater success in their professional career.

To resolve this scenario, ImaginXP, India’s foremost higher edtech company has developed a superior University-embedded pedagogical framework that offers a slew of full-time degree programmes and credit courses specialising in Design, Business, and Technology.
